Thom
(aka "DigArtz") is an established Sarasota graphic artist
and has been involved in professional creative enterprises since
1975. He has a wide variety of creative talents, coupled with extensive
Business Arts and Marketing Management achievements. Thoms
latest work uses various New Media & techniques to produce a
highly sophisticated level of digital paintings that reflect a depth
of color and texture not seen in digital paintings elsewhere. With
his extensive background in traditional painting and graphic arts,
Thom has over the course of 10 years developed a rare "painterly"
effect in digital media. The "Pixelized" exhibit is based
on original digital photography, which include topics of Florida
wildlife & landscapes. His unique creative vision and style
allow us to see our own world through his work in a way that renews
the miracle that life truly is. Additionally, he has developed a
variety of other subjects, such as digital abstracts which open
up entirely new vistas for the imagination.
As an internationally published photographer Thom has also made
his mark in the Sarasota County with his digital photography. His
imaginative camera eye captures events, people, nature
and wildlife in ways that inspires all of us to see the beauty that
otherwise escapes us in the rush of our daily lives.
His work as an award winning web site designer and content producer
for over 10 years with a variety of web businesses & entertainment
sites includes work for Pop Stars Sheryl Crow and Todd Rundgren.
One of the honors for his digartz.com entertainment site included
"The Point's Top 5% of All Web Site" awards.
As a multi-instrumental musician Thom has performed in a variety
of bands on both coasts of the USA since the age of 13. He plays
guitar, drums, bass, keyboards and performs lead and backing vocals.
Directly out of high school he pursued a degree in Sound Recording
Engineering, and has continued working on a variety of studio projects
throughout the years. In the early 80s he produced and engineered
a solo project in which he composed all the songs, as well as performed
all the instruments and vocals on the entire project. He went on
to develop all the cover & promotional artwork and market the
completed project as one of the earliest Indie labels, Roxvision
Productions. From that studio project he produced, directed and
starred in a music video, "Who Murdered Cupid?" for the
MTV Basement Tapes Series, which co-starred a renowned English actor,
Julian Sedgewick. Recent music projects have included inventing
the web based Midi "PageTunes" and a digital studio music
project "The Journey. He is currently producing a new
digital CD vocal projects, and a visual arts background music project.
With over 25 years experience in Retail Marketing, Merchandising
and Management, Thom has won several major awards for Special Promotional
Campaigns, Loss Prevention, and National Merchandising Displays.
His work as Graphic Designer & Marketing Specialist for a National
Insurance Marketing firm in the early 1990's, where he developed
a highly successful campaign, is still utilized to this day in over
3000 financial offices across the USA and Canada. In addition to
his degree in Sound Recording Engineering, Thom also holds degrees
for Graphic Design and Computer Graphics. He joined Sarasota County
Parks & Recreation in 1997 to produce high-end graphics, photography
and E-media applications. Now with the Marketing & Partnerships
division, he continues to add new skills and talents. Areas of expertise
include Graphics Marketing Consultations, Four (Full) Color to Single
Color Print Prepress, Photography and Digital Image Editing, Digital
Video, Presentation and Exhibit Designs, Forms Design and Management,
Internet Graphics and Web Page Maintenance, Graphics Workstations/
